Beyond Fertilizer as Usual: Alternative Practices for Field-Scale Production

The Peace Region Living Lab (PRLL) invites producers, agronomists, and industry professionals to join us on Wednesday, August 12, for a hands-on learning event exploring practical strategies to reduce reliance on synthetic fertilizers while maintaining productivity and profitability.
The day begins with indoor presentations at Canyon Hall, followed by outdoor demonstrations at Creek Bank Farms near Clayhurst. Participants will hear from leading experts on soil biology, plant-microbe relationships, biological amendments, and designing meaningful on-farm research. The afternoon will feature demonstrations of vermicompost systems, liquid application equipment, calibration techniques, drone applications, and ongoing Peace Region Living Lab on-farm research trials evaluating alternative nutrient management practices.
Whether you’re curious about biological amendments, interested in improving soil health, or looking for practical approaches to nutrient management, this event offers valuable, research-based information that can be applied on your own farm.
Date: Wednesday, August 12
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (Lunch provided)
